In households where there are individuals qualified to perform tharpanam at home on occasions such as Amavasyai, food is typically prepared using ingredients like plantain that are considered appropriate for the ritual. In such cases, can other family members who do not perform tharpanam also partake in this food? Or should separate food preparations be made for them?

Amavasyai food preparations can be partaken by all. During nighttime, the person who performed should partake phalaharam. In a few households, those who have not done tharpanam must restrict partaking food only to phalaharam. Must partake a small quantity of cooked rice. In a few other households, it is a practice for all family members to partake phalaharam. It is based on the practice of the respective households.
