We are following the Aahra Niyamam (dietary rules) as much as possible based on the preachings of Yagyam swami and other Vidwans. We are not consuming food offered to other deities. But since there are children, if they are given sweets by relatives who worship demigods, as an offering from Sri Jayanthi, can that be given to the children? Is there a different rule for children regarding this?

As far as possible, even for children, we should avoid giving them food that has been offered to other deities. If you are very strict, and if there is disagreement because of that, then problems will arise.
The scriptures say that offerings of other deities should not be given even to children. Therefore, you should carefully consider how to do this properly without causing any conflict.
