Explain the meaning of the eighth pasuram of Thirumaalai. ‘kuripennaku aDaiyum Agil kUDumEl, talayai AngE aRuppadE karumam kaNDAi arangamA nagaruLAnE’. Why does the Azhwar desire to cut off their heads in these lines? Even though it is wrong to interpret Azhwar’s preaching as violence, how do we understand this?

This implies that Kshatriyas (warrior class) cut the head off of the antagonist; It also implies that Brahmins cut asunder the faith of those differing religions as a form of enmity.
For the purpose of establishing Dharma (righteousness) in their kingdom, a king can punish those who perform Adharma (unrighteousness) or commit atrocities, even to the point of giving them the death penalty. In that manner, it may be right for Kshatriyas to kill or change the minds of those who are at odds with the Dharma.
