Naraka Chaturdashi falls on the day of Deepavali. One must apply oil and bathe in hot water before Suryodayam (sunrise). It is stated in the Dharma Shastras that this is Vishesham (special/auspicious). Furthermore, it is stated that this is equivalent to bathing in the holy river Ganges.
