Why we should not shift house when a woman is pregnant?

While doing a housewarming ceremony, we always choose a date based on the comfort of women. The wife plays a crucial role in a house and she is also the head of the house. To avoid wandering during pregnancy and pregnancy is like a vratam, people do not shift houses at that juncture.


Can women learn and recite Sundarakandam and Bhagavad Gita? Are there any guidelines for this?

Vidwan’s reply:

It was never in traditional practice for women to learn and recite Sundarakandam and Bhagavad Gita. Our elders do not practice that which is not in tradition. We always follow what our tradition has ordained us. In these modern days, some do recite, it is up to an individual to follow appropriately.


Can a wife who has lost her husband visit nearby temples that are not Divya Desam temples during the first year, please clarify.

Vidwan’s reply:

It is not wrong for a wife to visit nearby temples which are not Divya Desam temples within the first year of her husband’s demise but if she feels not to visit temples during that period, no harm in it.


Can women sound the divine bell while offering prasadam to Perumal when the husband is away?

Vidwan’s reply:

No, women should not sound the divine bell as it is not in practice.


As per Srivaishnava sampradayam, can women recite Narayaneeyam and Sankshepa Ramayanam?

Vidwan’s reply:

Narayaneeyam is a strotram composed by Narayana Bhattadri, anyone can recite Narayaneeyam as it is a stotram.

There is a Narayaneeyam in the Mahabharata and Sanksepa Ramayanam is presented in the Ithihasa, hence women do not recite these as per the tradition. But in these modern-day recitations are in vogue
