If a woman is menstruating (Rajasvala) on the day of a ritual fast (Nonbu), when should she observe the fast and when should she tie the sacred thread (Nonbu Charadu)? Can it be done on the same day, or should it be done on the fourth or fifth day after the period of impurity ends and she has bathed? If we wait until after the impurity ends, it might already be the month of Panguni; can it be done then?

If you are unable to observe the ritual on the designated day at home, you can tie the Nonbu Charadu on the fourth day after your bath once the menstruation period ends. The practice of fasting and then tying the thread does not apply in this case. This is because the actual Nonbu is performed specifically during the junction of the months of Maasi and Panguni. Therefore, you do not need to fast or make Kozhukkattai on the day you bathe; simply find an auspicious time (avoiding Rahu Kaalam) to tie the thread. Alternatively, you can even tie it in the evening after lighting the lamp.
