Adiyen belongs to vrAtya varnam (one who has renounced caste by not performing prescribed duties). How do I reclaim my rights to perform upanayanam, recitation of the Vedas, etc.? Are there any atonements to claim them back? Is bharanyasam a must to attain salvation (moksham)? The adherents of Tenkalai say it is not a must. But I desire to perform bharanyasam as per Vadakalai tradition. What must I do? And why is this difference in belief?
