It is customary to take a head bath on Ekadasi days. However, elders say that sumangali (married) women should not wash their hair on Ekadasi and Dwadasi days. Is this correct? Please explain when sumangalis can take a head bath and when they should not.

Women who are not sumangalis (i.e., widows) must take a head bath daily. Sumangali women should not take a head bath daily as a strict rule. Other than that, they can take a head bath on days of vratam (vows), special occasions, and days like Ekadasi and Dwadasi.
