Is there a rule that Mahalaya Paksha Tarpanam should not be performed on Tuesdays and Fridays, or can one follow the custom practised by their ancestors? This year, Mahabharani falls on a Friday. (My revered father did not have the practice of performing it on Tuesdays and Fridays).

Regarding Sakrun Mahalayam (performing the Mahalayam ritual only once during the period), there is a rule that those performing it should not do so on a Friday, but Tuesdays do not have such a rule. If a Mahabharani occurs on a Friday, it can still be performed.
